Safety issue at University of Newcastle
Hi, my friends,

There was an incident that International students are subject to physical attack on 22 Feb 2007 at Ourimbah. on Last Wednesday, Some of our friends were attacked by local people. I hope to raise some safety issues to all international student at University of Newcastle.

Some Personal safety issue
1.Know where you are going & how to get there.
2.Always let someone know where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to return.
3.If you're going out, make sure you plan a safe route home.
4.Avoid walking home late at night.

5.Listen to your instincts and don't take any unnecessary risks eg Hitchhiking or leaving clubs with a stranger
6.Don't carry unnecessary cash and credit cards.
7.Be alert when using your mobile phone or at ATM machines.
8.If you are trapped or in danger, yell/scream to attract attention.

Places to avoid!!!!
1.Secluded, unlit areas City and late at night.
2.Public parks late at night
3.Riverside walkways and bike paths

I think Walk near the main street where car can drive pass.(can get help from drivers) and get noticed easily if something goes wrong
